Robin Appia
Founder, President & CEO
Robin Appia, Founder & CEO, started Educology Solutions as a single person startup in 2009. Since that time, ESI has evolved into a formidable technology solutions provider. Along with overseeing company operations, Robin serves as the Executive Project Sponsor for a number of contracts while continuing to build an award winning, quality driven business that employs technical SMEs, technical specialists, and trainers who solve complex business challenges.
As an experienced developer, technical delivery manager, and program manager, Robin supported numerous Federal and international programs at Electronic Data Systems (EDS), CACI, Northrup Grumman, and ABSi prior to starting the company.
Robin has a Master of Science in applied mathematics from Howard University, and a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from Slippery Rock University.
Robert Boakai
Vice President & COO
Robert is charged with developing and guiding ESI business and growth strategy. Since his arrival in 2016, his leadership has been instrumental in business development, achieving growth targets, and leading the company through the acquisition of several key contracts, vehicles, and strategic partnerships.
Prior to joining ESI, Robert served in senior executive capacities at ECCO Select, Digital Management, CACI/Paradigm Solutions, CSC/Datatrac, and JenXSystems (founder). He continues to provide leadership in the GovCon space through participation in industry events and membership on advisory boards.
Robert has a Master of Science in systems engineering from Johns Hopkins University, a Bachelor of Science in computer science from the University of Maryland, and an executive certificate in finance from the MIT Sloan School of Management.
Desirea L. Hughes
Human Resources & Business Operations
Desi has over twenty years’ experience successfully building and executing human capital strategies supporting small government contractors. With a passion of engaging good people with growth and business opportunities, she’s had the privilege of leading initiatives for dynamic organizations supporting the nation’s highest missions and priorities with workforce solutions. At ESI, Desi plays a vital role in Business Operations, and performance of the Human Resources and Talent Acquisition organization.
With a practical understanding of strategic business needs and a “can-do” attitude, Desi has routinely been elevated in her professional endeavors, and recognized as a change agent in her rapport and team building abilities. She truly believes that happy people deliver great work; and incorporates a creative leadership style that empowers her peers and team members to achieve business objectives while meeting bottom line growth and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Desi holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Virginia State University and is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) and the Project Management Institute (PMI).
Lonica Robertson
Quality Management and Training
With more than 20 years of experience supporting law enforcement, municipal government, and non-profits, Lonica is responsible for leading ESI’s Quality Management and Training initiatives. Detail oriented and personable, she leads training projects and works with a team to audit processes, perform quality reviews, and contributes to the identification of improvements.
Routinely recognized for her commitment and service, Lonica also provides support for B&P activities and strategic initiatives for the company. Her dedication and commitment to business activities is a winning combination for the ESI team and its customers.
Lonica attended North Carolina Central University and completed a number of trainings during her career in support of professional development and career growth.
Chanel Watson, CPA
Finance and Accounting
Chanel has over 25 years of experience in DCAA compliance: Incurred Cost Submissions, Provisional Rate Budgets, and Cash Flow Forecast. As an integral part of her organization’s accounting leadership, Chanel has reported directly to company ownership, while managing the day-to-day tasks. Chanel is multifaceted in her expertise which is furthered enhanced by her knowledge of accounting principles (FAR, GAAP).
Prior to joining ESI, Chanel was instrumental in reducing cost by 75% and closing time for monthly and quarterly reporting by 60% by implementing new consolidation procedures. These achievements have not gone unnoticed as Chanel been the recipient of various accolades, including the Leadership by Example Award.
Chanel received her Bachelor Degree in accounting from Virginia State University, and she is a CPA who continues to maintain her CPE hours annually. She is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
Mackenzie Freeman
Intern
Mackenzie is an Intern at ESI supporting website design and social media initiatives and other project related endeavors. She has a growing interest in technology and has experience in several programming languages and graphics tools. In addition to her internal role, she is also supports company training initiatives.
Prior to joining ESI, Mackenzie was a website developer at The Institute of Nonprofit Leadership where she collaborated with key stake holders analyzing data analytics and other marketing components supporting the organizations redesign of their website for Butler SUCCEED, a branch of the institute.
Mackenzie is currently an undergraduate student at Fort Hays State University, majoring in Computer Science and plans to pursue Website Development upon graduation. She is an honors college student and was selected as a Bonner Leader, an academic leadership program that allows student engagement with faculty and community partners to analyze local needs to build a strong and flourishing environment.
